What We Do

At HTMC Group, our primary mission is to extract and process precipitated calcium carbonate to create a product that exceeds industry standards. Precipitated calcium carbonate, known chemically as calcium carbonate, has the chemical formula CaCO₃. This versatile mineral undergoes a meticulous production process to ensure it meets the strict quality requirements of our clients. As a leading provider of precipitated calcium carbonate in India, our operations encompass:

Raw Material Selection: At HTMC Group, we source the highest quality limestone to ensure the purity of our final product.

Production: The limestone is subjected to a chemical reaction with carbon dioxide, resulting in the formation of precipitated calcium carbonate. This process is carefully controlled to produce PCC with specific properties suited to various applications.

Quality Control: Throughout the production process, rigorous quality control measures are in place to guarantee the consistency and excellence of our PCC.

Packaging and Distribution: Our PCC is packaged in high-quality materials to preserve its integrity during transport, ensuring it reaches our customers in optimal condition.

Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Manufacturing Process Overview

The production of PCC at HTMC Group follows a carefully controlled, multi-step process to deliver consistent quality and high purity in every batch.

1. Limestone Sourcing and Raw Material Preparation

The process begins with the careful selection of high-grade natural limestone. As one of the most established manufacturers of calcium carbonate in India, HTMC Group sources limestone from trusted, geologically verified deposits to ensure that raw material purity is maintained right from the start. The limestone is inspected and tested before being accepted into the production line.

2. Calcination

The selected limestone is fed into a high-temperature kiln where it is heated to approximately 900°C to 1000°C. This thermal decomposition process, known as calcination, breaks down calcium carbonate into calcium oxide (quicklime or CaO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). The quality of calcination directly impacts the final purity of the PCC and is monitored closely throughout this stage.

3. Slaking — Hydration of Quicklime

The calcium oxide produced in the calcination stage is combined with water in a controlled slaking process to produce calcium hydroxide slurry, also known as milk of lime. The temperature, water ratio, and agitation speed are carefully managed during slaking to ensure the slurry has the desired consistency and reactivity for the next stage.

4. Carbonation

The calcium hydroxide slurry is transferred to carbonation reactors where purified carbon dioxide gas is introduced. The CO₂ reacts with calcium hydroxide to produce precipitated calcium carbonate. This is the most critical stage in the production process. The particle size, crystal morphology, and surface area of the final PCC product are all determined by controlling temperature, CO₂ flow rate, mixing intensity, and reaction time during carbonation.

5. Filtration and Dewatering

After carbonation, the PCC slurry is passed through filtration systems to separate the calcium carbonate solids from the liquid phase. The resulting cake is then processed through dewatering equipment to reduce moisture content before drying.

6. Drying

The dewatered PCC is dried using spray dryers or flash dryers under controlled temperature conditions. The drying process is managed carefully to preserve the crystal structure, surface properties, and whiteness of the product without causing any agglomeration or quality loss.

7. Milling, Quality Testing, and Packaging

The dried PCC is milled to the required particle size specifications and mesh grade. Each batch is then subjected to comprehensive quality testing including CaCO₃ assay, whiteness and brightness measurement, particle size analysis, moisture content, pH, and heavy metals screening before being cleared for dispatch. The finished product is packed in moisture-resistant multi-layer bags and stored under clean, dry conditions ready for supply to domestic and international customers.

Precipitated calcium carbonate is non-hazardous under normal handling conditions. However, to maintain product quality and ensure safe use, the following practices are recommended. Store the product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct moisture, heat, and strong acids or alkalis. Keep packaging sealed when not in use to prevent moisture absorption and contamination. When handling the powder in open environments, wear appropriate personal protective equipment including a dust mask, gloves, and safety goggles to minimize inhalation of fine particles. Recommended storage temperature is below 30°C under dry conditions. PCC should not be stored near reactive chemicals or substances that could compromise its purity or chemical stability
